COVID-19 information for our clients. Please note we remain working full time in face-to-face appointments at our Mornington office. As always, we continue to disinfect every surface before and after every appointment. We also have an Air Purifying device constantly cleaning the air within our office. Psychology appointments are considered an essential health service, so during this emergency please be reassured we will continue to make bookings for assessments and therapy appointments. Kind regards, Dimitra Arthur

Fees for our psychological services

Normal sessions are $180 per consultation (not including any formal report writing).

A Medicare rebate of up to $84.80 may apply if you are eligible through one of the government's Mental Health Care Plan initiatives. Please refer to our Medicare and Health Fund Information web page for additional details on Medicare Rebates.

Formal assessment report writing required from sessions will incur additional charges that are not covered under Medicare.

Comprehensive cognitive and behavioural assessments will require up to 4 consultation sessions that includes 1 mandatory consultation assessment feedback session (ordinary consultation fees apply). This assessment document itself costs an additional $280 for the extra time taken to write the report outside of consultation time (payable at presentation of the report).

The total overall fee for a diagnostic assessment and report is $1000 (4x $180 sessions + $280 report fee). For Learning Disorder assessments, an additional session is required so the total fee is $1180 (5x $180 sessions + $280 report fee).

It is important to note that formal assessment report writing fees are not covered under Medicare.

Please note that GST is not applicable when we provide counselling services directly to the client. GST may only be applicable for psychological report writing if the report is being provided exclusively for a third-party (medico-legal, expert witness etc).

Terms & Conditions

Normal appointment sessions are approximately 50-55 minutes, with a 5-10 minutes break for note writing and record keeping. Understandably there are some circumstances where consultations run over time. The psychologist will endeavour to start all appointments promptly at the set time. We also request that you attend your appointments on time to ensure you receive your full consultation.

Accounts are to be paid on the day of consultation. This is vital for the continuation of services provided by the psychologist. Accounts are payable by cash, cheque, EFTPOS, and credit cards. A receipt is issued by mail or picked up following the appointment when payment is made to the psychologist. If there are difficulties paying your account please talk to your practitioner so that they have an opportunity to assist you in a suitable arrangement.

Confidentiality of client details is respected and protected by Active Psychology. Psychologists are bound by the legal requirements of National Privacy Principles from the Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act 2000. Your records are kept strictly confidential. No information is released about any client to anyone without the client’s permission. If a Health Practitioner referred you, a brief letter is sent advising them of the therapeutic support provided. Permission is sort from the client if personal content of the sessions is to be reported.

Consent to contact associated health or educational professionals regarding your circumstances may be requested during the therapeutic process. If we need to contact these professionals we will ask you to sign a consent form that allows the psychologist to contact them to gain background information.
